Roger L. Davies
1930-1961
Officer Roger Davies was born in Custer, South Dakota. He graduated from Tualatin Grade School and Sherwood High. He was a member of the Oregon National Guard and had been in ROTC before joining the Bureau. Roger’s previous job was as a service station attendant.
Appointed to the Bureau on July 24, 1953 at the age of 23, he was a motorcycle patrol officer.
The Incident
Officer Davies was patrolling on his motorcycle, riding north on Front Avenue on April 18, 1961. A car driving in the opposite direction, turned left off of Front, causing Davis to broadside the vehicle on the passenger side. Davies died at the scene, the driver was uninjured.
Officer Davies was 30 and survived by his wife and five children.
